Punched my Ticket to the Whitewater Grandprix

grandprixI just received a phone call from Patrick Camblin, the organizer for the Whitewater Grandprix informing me that I just got a spot in the 2 week long competition with the top 28 kayakers in the world. I am stoked!!! The funny thing is I have no kayaks for this contest right now... My carbon fiber boat is still in final development stage and will hopefully be ready for the end of this week.  I just got off the phone with Billy Harris and he lent me a creeker no worries for the contest, great guy! So here I am now, getting my gear ready, sorting out plans with my mildly enthused fiance Lisa and 1 year old son Calder.  There will be 3 large super vans and trailers taking the athletes and their gear from the Ottawa River along the competition route all the way north to Chicoutimi, Quebec where the contest finishes on Sat, May 14, 2011. There are 6 events in total that, I`m sure, will surface the top athletes to the podium by the end of this grueling contest.  The contest starts on Tuesday here on the Ottawa River and we start to move north on Tuesday night or Wednesday. The competition is stout with entries from all over the world and I am super excited to get down!  Stay tuned for more info as I plan to write as much as I can throughout the event. Check out the Whitewater Grandprix website for more information...http://www.whitewatergrandprix.com/
